Welcome to Wales!

Here you’ll find a different country within the UK with its own distinctive history, culture and language. For a small country, we pack a lot in!

“The Greatest region to visit on earth in 2012”, that’s how Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2012 publication described coastal Wales.

It’s because of the new Wales Coast Path that winds around 870 miles of the Welsh coastline. But we are equally proud of our inland area too, in addition to the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park, there’s the mountainous Snowdonia National Park and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

There are 6 UNESCO sites, including 4 of our iconic castles – Caernarfon Castle is where Prince Charles was invested as the Prince of Wales and they are often how a child imagines a castle to be. Our National Museum has 7 sites throughout Wales and is an interesting way to find out what makes Wales unique. Visitors can venture down a coal mine, visit a farm, a school, a Roman Garden or admire the best collection of impressionist paintings outside Paris. What’s better, all these sites are free entry too. Our three national parks and five areas of outstanding natural beauty are an indication of just how beautiful the Welsh landscape is and the perfect setting to choose the right holiday or combination of things to do; a touring holiday to admire the scenery, taking one of the world famous ‘Great Little Steam Trains’ walking and cycling along the various pathways or for the more adventurous a sport invented in Wales ‘coasteering’.
