“Owld Tim Feather” was the last handloom weaver in Yorkshire. He was born on 20 January 1825 and died on 30 November 1910. He worked his handloom for seventy years in the bedroom of his ivy covered house in Green Bottan , Stanbury above Haworth.

It has been estimated by Whitley Turner in “a Springtime Aaunter Around Bronte Land” that he would have pressed the treddle of his loom 540 million times in his working life, producing cloth which he sold for 8d per yard.

“Timmy” was baptised by the reverend Patrick Bronte, father of Charlotte Bronte, on 25th July 1825. Charlotte would then have been nine years old.

In recognition of this remarkable man, we have in store a traditional Weaving Loom showing our customers the skills and patience involved in the spinning, warping and weaving process.
